Aga Khan Palace :
Aga Khan Palace is a greatest Historical Landmark of pune was built in the year of 1892 by Sulthan Mohammad Shah Aga Khan 3. It is also known as the Gandhi National Museum.Inside the building you will find pictures of Mahatma Gandhi’s Life.The palace is made of Italian arches and spacious lawns.
Shaniwar Wada Fort :
Shaniwar wada is the royal residence built by Peshwa Bajirao 1 in 1729. It has great fountains, old mirror hall, dancing hall, fruits and trees.
Shaniwar wada is located at the city center of Pune.The Fort was destroyed in 1823 by a fire, but suviving structures are maintained as tourist site.People can enjoy the light and sound effect show at the fort.
Sinhagad Fort :
Sinhagad means the Lion Fort was built 2000 years ago and it is named earlier as Kondana.It occupies an important place in the history of pune.The famous Battle of Sinhagad fought here.
It serves for trekking which fort makes mesmerising scenery with the sahyadri mountains.The fort also serves as a training center for National Defence Academy.
Chaturshringi Temple :
The Chaturshringi Temple is a symbol of power and faith.chatur means mountain with four peaks.It is situated on the Senapathi Bapat Road was built during in Shivaji era.The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Chaturshringi, also known as Goddess Ambareshwari.
Every year, During Navratri the entire temple is lit up with lamps.On this Occasion.Hundreds of people worship the Goddess Chaturshringi.
Pataleshwar Cave Temple :
Pataleshwar cave temple is a heritage site for pune and located on Jangli Maharaj road in shivajinagar area of pune.The entire temple is built on a single block of stone.This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.On each side of
sanctum, two smaller cells are present and in circular Nandi Mandapa supported by square pillars located in front of cave.
The Shiva Linga, Massive Pillars and Nandi Bull are main attractions of this temple.This cave temple is lits with thousands of Oil lamps on the Occassion og Tripuri Pournima.
Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapathi Temple :
This temple is situated in Budhwar pet near Shaniwar Wada built by Dagdusheth Halwai in 1800s.The temple dedicated to Lord Ganesh and one of the popular tourist place in pune.
Every year the Ganapathi Festival was celebrated with deep faith and enthusiasm.The shrine is so popular that people from all over country visit this temple.Most of visitors believe that without visit this temple trip will be incomplete.
Parvati Hill :
Parvati Hill is a panoramic view situated at center of pune.This temple dedicated to goddess Parvati was built by the third Peshwa.The hill house four prominent temple of Shiva, Ganesh, Vishnu and Kartikeya.Among these major temple here is called Parvati Temple.
One needs to climb 103 steps to reach the hilltop and you can see entire city from that view.The Parvati Museum which displays manuscripts and painting from ancient time.
Bund Garden :
Bund Garden is located just two km away from the Pune Railway Station.One of popular tourist places in pune.This was constructed by instructions of Sir Jamshedji Jeejeebhoy.The dam or bund on the Mula River imparts this name to the garden.
The garden is dotted with trees and flowering plants which is ideal for Picnic.Bund Garden is perfect place for nature lovers.It offers serene place to meditate and few migratory birds takes place for shelter.This garden also has boating facilities, Magic shows, Horse Rides and separate section for kids.
Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park :
It is also known as Rajiv Gandhi Zoo where its located in Katraj in Pune.These park over 130 aces is divided into three parts an animal Ophanage, a snake park and a zoo that includes 42 acre Katraj Lake.It was constucted by Shri Neelamumar Khaire in the year of 1986.
The Zoo has been successful in maintaining animals like Deer, White Tiger, Tiger, Sloth Bear and Elephants.Even though visitors can enjoy boating in the Katraj Lake.
Mulshi Dam :
Mulshi is a major dam built across the Mula River located in Mulshi Taluk in Pune.Mulshi dam is another haunt for nature lovers.It is most important electricity generating plants in Maharashtra.In this dam where water is used for irigation purposes.
This offers different activities like trekking, Camping and Photography.Several resorts and farm houses have been set adjacent to this lake.This is perfect place for picnic with friends and family’s.
Khadakwasla Dam :
Khadakwasla Dam is situated on the Mutha River built in the year of 1873.Main Purpose of this dam is serve water to the city of Pune.This dam has 11 radial type sluice gates and six irrigation outlets.The maximum depth of the lake is 36m.
The dam is destroyed in the year 1961 because of floods.Later recreated with different outlets to minimize the risk of floods.Mansoon season is considered to be best time and around dam you can visit some tourist attractions are Kudje Village, Peacock Bay and Neelkanteshwar.
