Kanaka Durga Temple :
Kanaka Durga Temple is a famous Hindu temple built in the 12th century by King Poosapati Madhava Varma located on the Indrakeeladri hill on the banks of Krishna River in Vijayawada. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. The deity 4 feet high with decorated ornaments and flowers.Thats why deity called as Kanaka Durga where Kanaka is Gold.
According to legend, Arjuna obtained the Pasupatha astra at this site so after gaining astra, Arjuna constructed this temple for Goddess Durga.As per vedas, this temple considered as ‘Swayambhu’ and also considered very powerful. Moreover it is also said Adi Sankara who visit and installed the Sri Chakra at this temple.
During the festive season of Durgashtami, Thousand of devotees comes from different places to this temple every year. Even Navaratri with 9 days, Saraswati Puja and Theppotsavam are the main celebrations here. There is a lift facility in the temple and also steps to reach main temple but devotees prefer by steps more. There is a railway station and bus stop close to the temple were you can reach to temple in 10 minutes.
Prakasam Barrage :
Prakasam Barrage is one of the most visiting place standing on a 160 pillars across the Krishna River which connects Krishna and Guntur districts built in the year 1957 by Sir Arthur Cotton.This dam is a 1223.5 meter long and Road Bridge connects the Kolkata-Chennai highway.
Prakasam Barrage becomes a major tourist attraction in Vijayawada and also picnic spot for friends and family’s.From Prakasam Barrage, you can see lake view and enjoy the nature.Those who are photography lovers they will enjoy senere at morning and evening time’s.At evening you will have different experience where entire bridge is lit up with lights.
This dam is an ancient and old barrage used for irrigation purpose were it serves one million hectors of land converting the Krishna delta.This is first dam built in South India. It was named after Tanguturi Prakasam, first chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Undavalli Caves :
Undavalli Caves is an example of Indian Rock-cut architecture built by Guptha dynasty loacted in the Undavalli Village in the Guntur district where 8 kms from Vijayawada. This caves have been carved out of sandstone on a hillside. These caves are dedicated to Lord Padmanabha and Lord Narasimha.
These caves structured like Buddhist monasteries and you can see 5 meter long statue of Lord Buddha inside the caves.There is another cave which is dedicated to Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara.These caves are surrounded by lusg green and Krishna River.
Undavalli Caves are seperated by three sanctuaries where first floor is with beautiful paintings then second floor contains a huge statue of Lord Vishnu and finally last floor contains numerous sculptures like lions and elephants. Tourists will enjoy this place by seeing beautiful sculpted structures.
Kondapalli Fort :
Kondapalli Fort is also called as Kondapalli Kota is a one of popular tourist attraction which is spread over an area of 18 sq.Km built by Prolaya Vema Reddy, King of Kondaveedu in 14th century located in Kondapalli Village in the Krishna district. The fort has three entry gates, the first one built with one granite called the Dargha Darwaza where another one will be other side called as Golconda Darwaza.
The major attraction of the fort is the Tanisha Mahal or Palace situated between two hills. The palace has several rooms or chambers or Durbar Hall. The Kondapalli Village is famous where locally produced Wooden Toys called as Kondapalli Toys or Dolls.
